Keys are a thing of the past at stylish new student apartments

Urban Creation is banishing the need for the traditional key at its new boutique homes for students, thanks to a new technological innovation.

The ASSA ABLOY Hospitality mobile access app provides a quick and easy way for residents to gain access to their accommodation via their smartphone, either Android or Apple – meaning there is no need for a traditional key.

The company is the first in the city to launch the app within student accommodation.

“We are always looking for clever new ways to improve the experience of tenants in our properties and we think this will help to make their stay a smooth one”, said Jonathan Brecknell, director and owner of Urban Creation.

“The move chimes with our ethos of creating homes that are both stylish and practical to live in, paying careful attention to all the little details that make a home a home – from clever storage space to logical layouts.”

Urban Creation is installing the digital key technology at two of its Bristol city centre-based properties, The Manor House and Charlotte’s Rise, where it is currently creating stylish student apartments for rent within beautiful, period properties full of charm and character.

Jonathan Brecknell added: “We are very excited to be launching this fantastic piece of technology at The Manor House and Charlotte’s Rise, and we hope to be able to roll this out to our other properties in due course. It gives tenants the flexibility to move in whenever they want, which will come in handy if they are arriving via plane in the middle of the night for example.”

The technology will streamline the process of checking in and checking out as it can send students their key digitally in advance using time dated information, meaning they can access their new accommodation at any given agreed time using their smartphone. All they need to do is download the app.

After students have moved in, they then don’t need to worry about keeping track of their key, they just use their smartphone to access their apartment, until they vacate the property when the device automatically checks them out at an agreed time.

At both The Manor House and Charlotte’s Rise, Urban Creation is creating boutique apartments for students with premium touches, whilst paying careful attention to ensure that the original character and period features of the buildings are preserved.

Jonathan Brecknell added: “We can’t wait to show our new tenants at The Manor House, a 17th century mansion and hidden gem, and Charlotte’s Rise, a row of Georgian properties off buzzing Park Street, around their new accommodation. Works are progressing well and we now have a show apartment at The Manor House, with one on the way soon at Charlotte’s Rise.”
