Following the initial work that began last December to prepare the space for conversion, Urban Creation has now appointed regional construction firm D R Jones (Yeovil) Ltd, known as Jones Building Group, to carry out the transformation at Beech House.
Refurbishment works are expected to take seven months to complete, with the accommodation to be made available by mid-2017 to the private rental market.
Planning permission has also been granted to develop a new mews building in the rear garden of Beech House. The building, which will comprise two additional houses on top of the 14 apartments, has been designed sympathetically to ensure it is in keeping with the site and historical surroundings of Clifton.
Jonathan Brecknell, who is director at Urban Creation, said: “It is exciting to see work having begun on this major renovation project which will return this beautiful building to its former use as homes and a new mews building created in keeping with the local area. Our approach is very much focused on making city living easy and enjoyable; with attention to detail and innovative design ensuring residents have everything they need. Beech House will bear the hallmark of this approach, creating stylish, modern apartments combined with Victorian grandeur.”
Jones Building Group construction director, Adrian A. Davies, said “Beech House is an important development within the area as it will provide high end accommodation for the local residents and Jones Building Group is very proud to be playing such a key role in its delivery. We are looking forward to completing the works on the site and being able to bring our considerable local knowledge to construct Beech House for Urban Creation.”
Beech House, which previously housed offices, is close to the popular shops, bars and restaurants of Whiteladies Road, as well as being only a few minutes’ walk from Clifton Triangle and Park Street.
